About Home Buddy
Home Buddy is a locally owned and operated company. The company was started three years ago when the owners (Matt and Cindy Graham) were trying to get the proper help setup for their elderly parents. Matt’s mother (88 years old) ordered a help service on-line. She received everything in a box and had to put it together herself, no one to call for help or to come out and set it up for her. That is when Matt and Cindy decided that there was a need for a company to help the people with strong customer service. Home Buddy was started with the goal of taking care of our customers in the same way we would want our parents taken care of.
Home Buddy offers a number of products to keep people safe in their own homes and of course, all with the helpful customer service. The first and foremost product is The Buddy system with help button. The Buddy system consists of a two-way speaker unit that plugs into a phone line and an electrical outlet and a personal waterproof help button that can be worn necklace style or on the wrist. When a customer presses their help button our care center will come on over the two-way speaker on the Buddy unit. Our care center operators can then get any type of assistance the customer needs, whether it is calling a neighbor or loved one for assistance or contacting emergency personnel.
Our help buttons are used for more than just medical emergencies, hence the name “Home Buddy”. We strive to make sure every one always has a buddy around. We all have a buddy we call when we are scared at home, worried or just feel unease. Our service is just that, a buddy. The customer can press the button whenever a buddy is needed; if there is a stranger at the door and they are uneasy they can press the button and the care center will be happy to stay on the line and listen in to make sure everything is ok while they answer the door. Perhaps a customer wakes up startled in the middle of the night and doesn’t know why, they can just press their button and the care center will talk with them while they calm down. The Buddy service is there to assist in all times of need just like a good buddy or roommate but without the added laundry and dishes.
The Buddy service has a couple of features that are included at NO extra charge for the customers that want them. They are medication reminders and well being checks. The medication reminders will be set according to each customer’s needs. The Buddy unit will remind a customer when it is time to take medication, once the customer has taken their medication they just press a button on the Buddy unit. If the customer has not taken their medication after fifteen minutes then the care center will follow the directions pre-set for each customer. We can call to remind them or contact a caregiver to check on them. If they are planning on leaving for the day all they have to do is press a button on the Buddy system to turn off the medication reminders and turn it back on when they arrive home, very simple for the customer to do. We can also set up a daily well-being check. We just tell ask the customer to tell the machine good morning and good night. Again all they do is press a button on the machine when they wake up and then when they go to bed. If the button is not pressed the care center will then check to make sure they are ok. Once again these features are free and can be turned on for any customer that wants them.
Home Buddy offers other products that can be added for a small fee if or when there is a need for each customer. Such as medication dispensers that monitor their medication and dispense the right dose, at the right time, every time. The medication dispenser can be monitored or unmonitored according to the customers needs. Home Buddy also offers smoke detector monitoring. The smoke alarm is monitored by the care center. In the event of a fire the care center will notify the fire department as well as call to check on the customer and send any other help that is required. When the care center contacts the fire department they can give them the proper direction to the customer, if they are disabled or still in the home and where in the home. We also offer key lock boxes that can be placed outside of each residences. With this caregivers or emergency personal can enter a secret code to get a key to their home so they can provide the customer with assistance needed.
Home Buddy strives to take care of each customer as they would their own family. Home Buddy prides itself on our outstanding customer service. Having the help button will reduce or eliminate the worry of “what if” not only for the customer but for staff, family and friends as well. Now everyone can know that their loved ones are being taken care of. Remember, “With Home Buddy your never home alone.”
